Discussion
Every woman’s period is going to be a little different from other women’s experiences. Factors such as cycle length, heaviness of flow, pain and cramping, are all unique to the individual. Menstruation cycle that vary anything between 21 and 35 days is considered normal, with the average being 28 days. The usual length of menstrual bleeding is four to six days, with the usual amount of blood loss per period is 10 to 35 ml per period (about 1-7 soaked normal-sized pads).
Menstrual cycle can indicate a lot about women health, we are a firm believer of regular checking and monitoring of your body to listen to what's supposed to be normal and detect abnormalities for earliest detection. Some of the monitoring points can be (but not restricted to) menses secretion color, texture and smell; presence of blood clot & its size; blood flow & other symptoms like menstrual pain, nausea or vomiting.
During our product trial on Project B Monthlies, our goal of in developing this product is to offer a superfood that feeds women in improving female menstruation experience and directing regularities. Hence, we design 2 investigation parameters:
1. Menstruation Regularity & Body Clock
The menstrual cycle is counted from the first day of period to the first day of the next period cycle - this isn't and cannot be the same for every woman. Depending on individual, menstruation cycle can vary anything between 21 and 35 days, with the average being 28 days.
In this observation, participants are required to report their usual menstruation cycle and the first day of period for an observation of 3 months. Amongst all, most participants (79%) has reported to have a delayed menstruation / longer than usual cycle; while a minority (21%) to have experienced early menstruation (shorter than usual cycle). Following one month consumption of Project B Monthlies, only a mere 9% of participants has got their menstruation on time, while improvement has seen greatest following at least 2 to 3 months at +45% and +33% respectively. At the end of the trial, a success rate of 88% has been achieved.
2. Overall Menstruation Experience
Results complied following a standard measure of several qualitative intents with a rating scale to document the experience from premenstrual to postmenstrual experience. All scores are compiled to obtain a mean to determine the experience to further categorize under Positive, Neutral and Negative.
Some of the qualitative intents measured are: menses secretion color, texture and smell; presence of blood clot & its size; blood flow; other symptoms like menstrual pain, nausea or vomiting.
In this observation, menstruation experience is seen to improve most after consistent 3 months of use at a satisfactory rate of 66%, while 30% reported neutral.
In conclusion, Project B Monthlies can positively impact women menstrual regularity, menses experience and improve quality of life following at least 2 to 3 months of consistent use.
